It’s Wellbeing month at Rosedene! We hear the word “wellbeing” often in modern times, from schools to workplaces, but what does it really mean for our children?
Wellbeing is about feeling comfortable, healthy, and happy. It includes physical, mental, and social health. At Rosedene, we believe that nurturing a child’s wellbeing is the key to helping them grow into confident, resilient individuals. You too can support your child’s wellbeing right from home with simple, everyday actions.
Here are five easy tips to help regulate and encourage your child’s emotions and mental health:

1. Spend Time Outdoors
Nature is a powerful mood booster. Whether it’s a walk to nursery or a muddy adventure in the garden, outdoor play helps reduce stress, improve focus, and regulate emotions. You could try spotting birds, naming flowers, or simply enjoying fresh air together, it’s a great way for you all to bond and recharge.
2. Positive Affirmations
Boost your child’s confidence with simple phrases like “I am brave” or “I am kind.”Make it fun by singing them, add hand motions, or turn it into a morning ritual during bath time or while getting dressed. These small moments build self-esteem and emotional resilience.
3. Tidy Space = Tidy Mind
A clutter-free space can calm the mind. Turn tidying into a game by setting a timer, playing music, or assigning “special helper” roles. Involving children in chores fosters responsibility and gives them a sense of achievement. Plus, your to-do list gets shorter – a win-win!
4. Celebrate Loved Ones
Looking at family photos and sharing stories helps children feel connected and loved. Ask questions like “What do you love about Daddy?” and share your own memories. This builds empathy, emotional security, and a sense of belonging.
5. Get Creative
Rainy day? The perfect time to explore creativity! Drawing, dancing, or singing lets children express their feelings in playful ways. Join in and let your child lead and watch as their personalities blossom.
As part of Wellbeing Month at Rosedene, we’ve embraced a range of activities to support the health and happiness of our community. From peaceful wellbeing walks with our little ones to a dedicated wellbeing week across our nurseries, and a calming yoga and mindfulness wellbeing day for our employees, each initiative was designed to encourage reflection and relaxation. We hope these moments of connection and calm have brought a sense of balance to everyone at Rosedene as we welcome the autumn season.
