What We Got Up To In February

February was a month filled with love, kindness, and excitement across Rosedene Nurseries!

Apprentice Week kicked off the month, where we celebrated our hardworking apprentices who bring so much dedication and passion to their roles. We also attended a few apprentice events across local schools and colleges in Stockton-on-Tees and Redcar & Cleveland, where we met with childcare students who are interested in rewarding career here at Rosedene.

As Pancake Day rolled around, our little ones had a blast flipping and decorating pancakes, filling the nursery with laughter and delicious smells, exploring what toppings were their favourite!

Valentines Day brought a touch of sweetness as the children spent time creating handmade bouquets for their loved ones and those in the community, spreading love and warmth all around. At Rosedene Redhill, we held a Valentines Day parent evening where families came together to take part in some themed activities.

We also celebrated Lunar New Year, immersing ourselves in the colourful traditions and joyous festivities of this special occasion in the Asian community. From creating lanterns to traditional Chinese artwork, the children and our team loved embracing the culture and celebrating the Year of The Dragon!

Our theme across Rosedene Nurseries this month was Caregiving, and a big highlight of this was Random Acts of Kindness day, where everyone came together to spread smiles and positivity, including the team, our nursery managers put together some lovely treats and appreciation activities for our nursery teams. The children got out into the community and shared kindness cards and gifts that they had made in the setting.

As part of Caregiving month, our team undertook training on the importance of the practice in early years and how it is a lot more than just a task to complete, it’s a critical, integral and fundamental part of the pedagogical practice in Early Years Education. Helping us attune to the needs of all children, attachment, relationships and a sense of security. Examples of caregiving within the nursery environment include nappy changing, helping a child wash their hands before a mealtime, settling a child to sleep and welcoming a child to the nursery at the start of their session. All areas of our caregiving link to the Early Years Foundation Stages as they play a significant role in supporting the children’s individual learning, development and well-being.

Speaking of Wellbeing, our team got together for our first Rosedene Team Wellbeing Walk, bringing together everyone with a physical activity to highlight the importance of wellbeing, all part of our 2024 wellbeing programme!

And who could forget Love Your Pet Day! When some of our furry friends from the farm visited the nursery, they loved feeding the goats vegetables in the garden and taking a ride on Monty the donkey. Thank you to the families who kindly donated to the animals visit, where all our proceeds will be going towards a fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support.

February was truly a month to remember at Rosedene Nurseries, filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments, we look forward to what March and Spring has to offer!
